Goodbye COVID-19
1/8/2021 11:40:05 PM
Nearly after nine months, the COVID-19 curve is flattening in Jammu and Kashmir. Slowly the infections are declining and many districts are becoming pestilence free.
Arrival of the vaccine has created optimism among the people as the pandemic is about to end.
The outbreak of COVID-19 had wreaked havoc across the world in early 2020. It brought life to a standstill. The virus during the past one year has killed millions of people across the globe.
Jammu and Kashmir has been no exception. The region had its own share of problems as everything was hit. The COVID-19 didn’t spare anyone. From a street vendor to a top notch businessman everyone suffered.
In J&K UT, more than one lakh people have got infected while more than 1900 people have died due to COVID-19 till date.
But now, the new dawn has broken out and things are looking up. The vaccines manufactured by Serum Institute and Bharat Biotech have been approved and the process of distributing these has already commenced. Finally, we are seeing some light at the end of the tunnel.
The immunization drive is all set to begin but the health experts are maintaining that the guard cannot be lowered. People need to wear masks, carry sanitizers and maintain social distancing.
The COVID-19 SOPs have to be followed till everyone gets vaccinated. It’s a long drawn process and we have to wait for its completion. Till then we have to remain careful and cautious.
When COVID witnessed its peak in Jammu, hospitals in the winter capital disappointed the common people as the helmsmen failed to cope with the crisis.
The worst thing these hospitals witnessed during the COVID peak was oxygen plants not working properly. High-end ventilators that were provided by the Centre to Jammu hospitals remained defunct due the saturation level of the oxygen generated by the hospital plants being low. Despite facing all odds people of Jammu remained resilient and firm.
They set an example about how to follow the COVID-19 norms and led from the front. They suffered but they didn’t give up. Even today people in Jammu do wear masks religiously and try to ensure that social distancing norms are not violated.
The COVID-19 cases showing a decline is a good news. Let’s hope within a few days no more cases of the pestilence will be reported from any district in Jammu and Kashmir.
