J&K Ranked no 1 in the Country, 2.5 Lakh students, 20052 schools participate
Fit India School Week Celebrations 2020

JAMMU, Jan 9: As many as 20052 schools of Jammu division participated through online and offline activities in 'Fit India School Week Celebrations 2020' launched by the Ministry of Education( School Education & Literacy) and Ministry of Sports, Government of India w.e.f 1st December to 31st December 2020.
J&K has topped the list of participating schools amongst all the States and UT's of India followed by Gujrat and Odisha.
A total of 17611 registrations from the UT of J&K were recognized, out of which 10206 came from Jammu division alone, while Gujrat ranked 2nd with 10163 entries and Odisha stood 3rd with 7448.
Director School Education Jammu, Anuradha Gupta, in the assessment meeting held today, divulged that more than 2.5 Lakh students and teachers (2,52,043) participated in the campaign covering 20052 schools.
In her congratulatory message to the students, teachers and staff members, Anuradha Gupta, recognising the efforts put in, thanked everyone for the overwhelming response despite COVID-19 pandemic restrictions and asked them to continue working diligently so as to achieve the motto of the initiative in letter and spirit. "It is a moment of pride for all of us to be number 1 in the country with maximum entries coming from Jammu division. It is also a moment to introspect how important it is to adopt some fitness routine as a lifelong habit", she added. She said that the slogan of Fit India School Week celebrations, Ek Ghanta Roz Fitness ki dose shall be adopted by Jammu schools on a continuous basis. She called upon all Government and private schools to take Fit India movement forward.
To make students, teachers and others stakeholders aware about the registration process and to meet the necessary conditions laid down by the Union Government Of India, the Directorate of School Education Jammu started a month long campaign through various activities in the month of December 2020 using both online as well as offline mode across all the 10 districts of division Jammu, covering both winter and summer zone schools.
The activities organised by the Directorate of School Education Jammu throughout the month included many innovative first of its kind initiatives like classes and sessions on Ayurveda, Meditation, Aerobics, Dance Fitness, podcast/movie making etc. Activities such as martial arts, hopscotch, short races, cycling, spot jogging, local traditional games of the area etc. were incorporated, keeping in view the holistic development of mind, body and soul.
The activities were coordinated by the Zonal and District Nodal Officers at their respective levels where as Mr. Govind Sharma coordinated at Division level and Ms. Sunita Fotedar at UT level.
