JAMMU, Jan 9: Lashing out at Congress leadership for misleading the people of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly the farmers community, by holding candle light marches and rallies, former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta today said that the Central Government's pro-people agenda has benefitted every section of the society.
Asking the Congress party to introspect as to what have they done for general public and farmers in last 70 years, Gupta said that it is a matter of shame that when the BJP-led government is bringing in reforms in agriculture sector, the Congress is opposing the same by misleading farmers.
"During their successive regimes, the Congress did nothing for the welfare of people and farmers of the country. It is unfortunate that the Congress is stooping so low as in to mislead people," he said.
Gupta said that there are certain elements who do not want peace in the country by manipulating facts and spreading misinformation. "However, it is a shame that a party of the stature of Congress has fallen from grace in such a manner," he said, asking the Congress leadership to introspect.
"The BJP central leadership is pro-people. This government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been working for the welfare of people of the country. The Congress must introspect what has it achieved in past 70 years vis-a-vis the journey of development in past 7 years," said Gupta.
The senior BJP leader came out hard at Congress leadership for misleading the people of J&K in general and farmers in particular by holding candle light march and rallies.
