PAGD mulls Jammu outreach
1/9/2021 11:31:53 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 9: With the so called Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration, a conglomerate of seven regional parties, having won maximum number of 110 seats in the recently concluded District Development Council elections, the PAGD leaders are looking ahead to launch a “Jammu outreach.”
Sources said as the PAGD leaders managed to win over two dozen seats even from Jammu province where the Bharatiya Janta Party led the seat share, the regional parties look ahead to go back to the voters to “thank them.”
Sources said the National Conference, which is calling the shots in the PAGD, along with the Peoples Democratic Party and the Peoples Conference look ahead to hold joint conventions in the Jammu region soon.
The outreach program is scheduled to last for over a week, once the modalities are fixed.
Sources said the idea has been mulled by the few of the leaders from these three parties in particular and that it would be discussed threadbare at the upcoming meeting of the conglomerate.
It was reliably learnt that the senior leaders of the PAGD have “welcomed the plan and want to cash it to its fullest.”
Sources said most of the senior leaders of the PAGD including National Conference President Omar Abdullah, his counterpart from PDP, Mehbooba Mufti and the PC President Sajad Lone were expected to be a part of the “Jammu outreach”.
Sources said the party leaders have been told by their Advisors in Kashmir that they need to keep Jammu voters “in good humor for the purpose of the Assembly elections.”
“Basically, they (PAGD) have realized that they will not be able to form any government in future if they focus on Kashmir alone and thus want to show their presence in Jammu,” said a source privy to the developments.
