14 doctors found absent at M&CCH Anantnag, private clinics sealed

Anantnag, Jan 10: Deputy Commissioner Anantnag K K Sidha today found 14 doctors absent from duties at Maternity and Child Care Hospital Anantnag during a surprise check.
Deputy Commissioner vide Order No. 441 of 2020 dated 09-01-2021 had cancelled the Sunday holiday. “In view of the inclement weather conditions and snowfall, all offices shall remain open on 10-01-2021 (Sunday) to address the immediate public issues,” reads the order, a copy of which lies with Early Times.
In an official communiqué, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag said that he visited Maternity & Child Care Hospital SherBagh Anantnag and enquired about the medicare facilities & heating arrangements being provided to the patients. He said that during the visit he inspected various wards, sections of the hospital and found 14 doctors absent from their duties.
“In charge Medical Superintendent was directed to explain their cause of absence,” reads the communiqué. Deputy Commissioner told Early Times that he has written to Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and recommended stern action against those doctors who were found absent.
He said that checked a few clinics in Anantnag town and found government doctors practicing at these clinics. “Two clinics including Maqbool Pharmacy and Al-Qadir Medical Store where Government Doctors were found practicing during their duty hours and also for not adhering to Covid-19 SOP’s & Guidelines were seized,” reads the communiqué.
DC Anantnag also seized NITCO transport company for wrong parking of heavy trucks on main road side causing difficulties for general public and local transport. Meanwhile, doctors expressed anger against the Deputy Commissioner and claimed that they were working under a proper roster.
“We don’t skip duties but are working as per the roster that the Deputy Commissioner refused to understand,” they said. A number of doctors including the office bearers of Doctors Association of Kashmir also expressed similar opinion on social media sites.
