Early Times Report

Poonch, Jan 10: Revenue Department Mendhar of Poonch district has allegedly failed to demarcate encroached state land due to non-cooperation by the local police, which didn’t send security personnel on the day of demarcation.
Talking to Early Times, Zaffar Kayani, a social activist of Poonch, who had raised the issue said that due to the casual approach of the Revenue Department, the state land went into the hands of encroachers.
“I highlighted the issue with the concerned department following which the Tehsildar Mendhar had issued an order of demarcation on 14-8-2020 and appointed a Commission for demarcation of state land at village Gohlad and Ari under the supervision of Naib Tehsildar Mendhar but due to non availability of police parties, the demarcation could not be done,” he said.
He further said that the Tehsildar informed the police that on 8-1-2021, demarcation will be held and requested to remain present on the spot but when revenue team led by Naib Tehsidlar reached the spot, there was no police due to which the demarcation could not be held. He further alleged that there is an employee of Education Department who is creating hurdles in the demarcation process by using his influence.
Sub Divisional Magistrate Mendhar, when contacted said that he is not aware of the matter. Meanwhile Tehsildar said that he had directed the Naib Tehsildar. Astonishingly, when concerned DySP was contacted, he said that he had sent two parties but fact of the matter is that the officer spoke lied.
Local residents criticized the DySP for speaking lies and alleged that the officer never helped the general public and demanded his immediate transfer. Meanwhile the concerned SHO said that due to some reason, police personnel could not be available as they were sent to some other place.
