Panic grips as tremors jolt Kishtwar, Doda

KISHTWAR, Jan 11: A massive earthquake jolts Kishtwar and Doda District along with adjoining Ramban and Anantnag Districts at around 7.32 PM today as a result of which the people started running out of their homes in hustle and bustle.
As per the details available with Early Times, the earthquake last for 8-10 seconds at high intensity while its intensity reduces after that and continue for at least next one minute.
As soon as the tremors felt the people comes on roads in many areas and as per initial reports, some Kachha houses suffered damages- but till the filling of this news report, no report of any major loss has been received from any part of the most effected areas.
As per initial reports, roof of the one of the passage in Govt Medical College Doda building also suffer some creaks while one house of Riyaz Ahmed s/o Gh.Mohd Motbar R/O Kwath,Drubeel of block Mughalmaidan damaged due to earthquake. The school in Drabshalla education zone also reportedly suffered the cracks while several uncertified details of damages also pour in from various areas of effected areas.
As per social media buzz, the tremors also felt in many parts of Kashmir valley.
As National Center for Seismology, the intensity of the earthquake on Richter scale is 5.1 with 5 KM depth with 33.34 latitude and 75.47 longitude with location 63 KM from Katra- the area that falls in Kishtwar District.
