Mushrooming KP organisations playing with community cause
1/12/2021 12:19:04 AM

JAMMU, Jan 11: The mushrooming of KP organisations has led to a confusion among the community which is unable to understand whom to support and whom not.

According to sources there are dozens of KP organisations working under different name and style claiming to champion

the cause of community at different foras.

The trend started soon after the mass migration of Pandits from Valley to Jammu and other parts of Kashmir, sources said, adding the number of these organisations is uncountable now from regional to global level.

Sources said to take on the traditional and old organisations like All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference and highlight the community issues much forcefully and launch struggle for settling the KPs in separate homeland Panun Kashmir came into being in 1991 and in December same year it came with a resolution of separate homeland within Valley on North East of river Jehlum with a Union Territory Status for rehabilitation of displaced Pandits. But within some years it was divided into two factions PK and Panun Kashmir Movement. Later PK was further divided into two groups which after remaining separately working for a decade again reunited some years back but the majority of the dedicated workers of organisation remained silent after getting disillusioned.

The ASKPC which has been the oldest socio political organisation of Pandits was divided into two parts when it's Delhi unit head came out with separate organisation Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) after he was not given due consideration by the leadership in organisational matters.

All India Kashmiri Pandit Conference (AIKPC) which was also founded during eighties in Kashmir however could not make much influence over the community during turmoil. In addition to it the All India Kashmiri Samaj, (AIKS) Kashmir Samiti Delhi (KSD) are two Delhi based KP organisations which existed prior to mass exodus of the community but also worked shoulder to shoulder with other organisations in mitigating sufferings of the community after migration. However main difference of these bodies was with PK as the opposed the separate homeland and claimed that entire Kashmir belonged to Pandits.

In addition to it Sampooran Kashmiri Pandit Sangathan, Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS), All Parties Migrant Coordination Committee (APMCC), All India Migrant Camp Coordination COMMITTEE (AIMCCC), Vision Kashmir, Sangarsh Samiti Kashmir, Secular Front, Jagti Tenement Committee and Doan Kashmir Front are few organisations to name which claim are fighting for the cause of the community but on ground they never support any common community cause and oppose each other. This has been one of the main cause that successive Governments at Delhi and Jammu never took the cause of the community seriously and no solution has been worked out on its permanent rehabilitation.

Though Pandit organisation blame Government for not taking their issues seriously the Government however says their is no unanimity among KP organisations themselves on the rehabilitation issue.
