District Hospital Reasi bags Kayakalp Award

REASI, Jan 12: The spirited efforts of the District Administration and untiring work by the staff of District Hospital Reasi in providing quality health services, maintenance of cleanliness and hygiene in and around the premises of the health institutions, has enabled it to win the coveted first prize of Rs 50 lakh under Kayakalp scheme of the central Government.
The Award was presented to the district administration and Health authorities by Union Health Minister of India, Dr. Harsh Vardhan through virtual mode at New Delhi.
The main objective of the Kayakalp Abhiyan being run under the Swachh Bharat Mission is to ensure high level of cleanliness and infection control in health institutions. As a result of the Kayakalp Abhiyan, achievements like standardization in cleanliness, decline in hospital infections and use of antibiotic, improvement in satisfaction level of patients are being reflected.
Due to this, OPD of Government health institutions is registering a constant increase.
Expressing her delight over the achievement of the District Hospital, Deputy Commissioner, Indu Khanwal Chib congratulated the entire team of the health department for working tirelessly and 24/7 to ensure better healthcare services to the common masses and for maintaining cleanliness in health institutions and their premises. She added that the award generates a sense of competition among the hospitals and encourages them to strive for maintaining cleanliness and better Healthcare facilities.
She said that cleanliness is no more a one-time activity but is integrated in our day-to-day practices and should become a habit and Kayakalp has played a pivotal role in reinstating and reconfirming trust and confidence of the community in public health facilities.
The Deputy Commissioner also stressed upon the health authorities to ensure that the zest and zeal shown by the hospitals and their collective efforts in improving cleanliness, hygiene and infection control practices should continue unabated.
Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Rajeev Sharma, expressed gratitude to the administration for their continuous support and exhorted the health staff to work harder for getting the coveted award this year also. He also said this award is testimony that ‘we are providing better Healthcare facilities to the patients.’
