‘Boycotting’ meeting of Rajni Patil: Azad loyalists likely to face action

Jammu, Jan 12: Loyalists of Congress stalwart Ghulam Nabi Azad are likely to face action for ‘boycotting’ the ‘crucial’ meeting called by AICC incharge of J&K affairs Rajni Patil to discuss results of the recently held District Development Councils (DDCs) elections in J&K.
All leaders, who owe their allegiance with leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi, have ‘boycotted’ the ‘important’ meeting convened on January 10.
Reliable sources told the Early Times that the majority of the leaders present in the meeting demanded that action should be taken against all those who decided to remain absent despite the fact they were aware that Rajni Patil was specially coming for this meeting only.
“AICC incharge of J&K has also taken very serious note of the attitude of Azad loyalists who were absent from the meeting”, sources said, adding, “Patil has asked J&K Congress chief G A Mir to seek clarification from these leaders for boycotting the meeting”.
“Very soon show cause notices will be served to most of the loyalists of Ghulam Nabi Azad for repeatedly boycotting meetings convened by AICC incharge from time to time”, sources said.
Important to mention here that Azad loyalists had earlier boycotted the meeting convened by Rajni Patil in the month of October 2020.
During her two-day stay at Jammu, Rajni Patil held detailed discussions with senior leaders to ascertain causes for the ‘below expectation’ performance of the party in the recently held DDCs elections. All senior Congress leaders including loyalists of Ghulam Nabi Azad were called for these meetings but all of them preferred to stay away from these meetings.
Notwithstanding claims of the party leaders performance of Congress was worst in the DDCs elections due to infighting and wrong distribution of tickets.
Instead of giving mandate to deserving candidates, senior Congress leaders preferred to manage mandates for their loyalists resulting in humiliating defeat of the party in Jammu, Samba, Kathua and Udhampur districts where party has failed to get respectable seats. Party even failed to open its account in Jammu, Samba and Udhampur districts.
As reported earlier, ego among senior leaders and infighting was the main cause of party insulting and humiliating defeat in the DDCs elections.
