Early Times Report

JAMMU, Jan 13: Though leading an exiled life for over 31 years now the return and rehabilitation process of Kashmiri migrants has been put into cold storage.
The successive Government's claims that return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants is top on their agenda has totally remained a buzz word with Government making no headway in this regard.
According to sources no steps have been taken by the Government in return and rehabilitation of over seven lakh displaced Pandits to Valley in honourable and dignified way.
Sources said though all KP organisations have been pressing for their honourable and dignified return in accordance to their geo-political aspirations, the Government is showing no inclination to frame a concrete and viable policy in this regard.
Sources said many reports and committees were framed in this regard have proved totally eyewash as no efforts were made to finalise these reports. Sources said the issue of displaced Pandits is becoming complicated day by day and more delay will make their return formulla totally difficult. Moreover, return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits is more imperative for restoration of composite culture in the Valley and strengthening nationalist forces in Kashmir, sources added.
Sources said the Koul Committe, Central Parliamentary Committee and Apex Committee reports frames in this regard are biting dust as the rehabilitation of Pandits seems also to be no priority for the Government.
Some KP organisations while questioning the Government's silence over the issue said for how long more they have to lead the exiled life and face the miseries. Will the day come when Government will awake of deep slumber and give a practicle shape to the return and rehabilitation plan of displaced Pandits, they added.
These Pandit bodies made it clear that giving employment two or three thousand youth can't be linked to rehabilitation formulla which should be framed with due consultation with Pandit organisations by taking their geo,-oolitical aspirations into consideration.
