1/14/2021 11:16:57 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Jan 14: President, FCIK, Shahid Kamili called on Chairman, JK Pollution Control Board, Suresh Chugh today to discuss various issues with regard to pollution control and development of industries and trade in the Union Territory of J&K.
He projected issues with regard to consent mechanism, Air and Water Pollution and the problems being faced by the industries on this account. Detailed discussions on the working of JK PCB were also held in presence of B.M.Sharma, Member Secretary, JK PCB and Regional Director, PCB, Jammu, Dr. Nadeem Hussain. He was also apprised about the efforts being made by PCB with respect to Ease of Doing Business (EoDB).
The Member Secretary told that every effort is made to streamline Consent to Establish (CTE) and Consent to Operate (CTO) being given by the PCB on-line, so as to make it convenient for the unit holders to get the consent well in time.
He said that due to inadequate information submitted by the unit holders, sometime delays take place but once all requisite documents are uploaded, there is no further delay on the part of PCB, because regular monitoring is being done at the highest level, on weekly basis.
The issue of Hotel Industry was also discussed with regard to problems being faced by them due to COVID-19 and low level of tourism. It was apprised that as per the NGT orders, it is mandatory to have STPs installed in case of occupancy of more than 19 rooms for which cooperation on the part of Federation Chamber of Industries is required. Problems on critically polluted Khanmoh and Khrew Industrial Areas were also discussed.
Kamili assured full cooperation on the part of industries with respect to compliance of environment norms. He said that there can be no compromise on this account and whatever steps are required for pollution control will be followed scrupulously.
He was apprised that Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) is a priority for the Government and PCB is always in forefront in this regard and whatever steps are required to minimize difficulties of the industries, will be taken care of. An exercise is already going on at the higher level and soon the results will be out, he informed.
