After a wait of over 10 months COVID-19 vaccines have arrived and their distribution has commenced in Jammu and Kashmir. Till date price of the vaccine has not been made public. But people are hoping that it will be affordable for all.
The healthcare workers, people above 50-years and the ones with comorbidities will be administered the COVID vaccines on priority basis.
Dry-run to administer the COVID vaccines has already been held across the union territory. The immunization drive across the country is all set to commence on January 16.
Despite the vaccines just being one day away doctors and health experts are maintaining that guard should not be lowered and proper care needs to be taken till the pandemic ends.
When the pandemic broke out medicos fought against the pestilence with empty hands. They had no idea about how the virus will behave and would could be the possible remedies. During the past ten months, hundreds of medicos turned COVID positive and many lost their lives. Entire nation is indebted to them as they put their lives at stake to save precious human lives.
Now the cure has been found but people need to bear it in mind that immunizing the entire population won’t be that easy and it’s a long drawn process. People will have to wait till these vaccines are made available everywhere. Till then they will have to follow the COVID protocol. Precaution is better than cure.
In J&K UT the number of cases have declined and so have the casualties. So far the immunization campaigns across the world have been successful. There have been some cases of people developing side effects but these have not been so severe. It appears that finally the ice has been broken and light has appeared at the end of the tunnel.
People are hoping that fear and uncertainty that have been prevailing for so long will end soon. People in Jammu have faced the COVID bravely. In fact, they have set an example by maintaining exemplary discipline.
The administration should focus on ensuring that the COVID cure reaches everyone. No one should be left out and the immunization drive should be held at a fast pace. These vaccines should also be made available in the open market so that whoever can afford to buy can go ahead. It will reduce the load on the government hospitals and dispensaries.
