Early Times Report

Srinagar, Jan 14: At a time when the Centre wants youth to excel in sports, there are some officials and players who are hell bent to ruin the career of some energetic cricketers in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources told Early Times that some officials and players in Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) are playing a very “dirty role.” “Whatever a very particular player cum captain wants that's happening in and outside the field, whether it's about the selection procedure or anything else everyone is dancing to his tunes. Even the batting order as well as the balling department has been ruined by that player,” sources alleged.
J&K has produced some versatile players so far, and now youth are more interested in sports but the favoritism and nexus in JKCA may ruin their career, if the administration doesn’t intervene.
Recently few deserving players like Manzoor Pandav who has an IPL cap were shown the exit door on one or other pretext.
Sources believe that the player Abdul Samad who has recently played an IPL for SunRisers Hyderabad is on radar as he was sent down the order to bat that shows a clear conspiracy to ruin his career as well.
There are some players like Aaqib who aren't given the full quota to bowl despite their performances being consistent during the past 2 years.
The irony is that there are some officials who were earlier assigned the job of selectors and they don’t know the basics of cricket. “They were sent along with the team for Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament in complete violation of BCCI rules and regulations,” sources added.
Meanwhile former Indian cricketer and commentator, Harsha Bhogle in a series of tweets said, “Just seeing some of the scores in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Tournament pained to see Abdul Samad batting at no 6 for J&K. I don’t know what the reason is but there is no future in batting no 6 for a state side in T-20”.
Another former cricketer Tom Moody, replying to the tweet of Harsha Bhogle said that, “100% agree with or without my @SunRisers hat on, he has shown enough in the recent @IPL to deserve an opportunity to bat 4/5. # Samad”.
Irfan Pathan also replied to Harsha Bhogle and tweeted that he (Samad) has a great future Harsha bhai no doubt about that and batting lower down the order will certainly not help him nor the team. I am surprised too.
