Urbanized BJP fails to organize pro-farmer rallies in Jammu
1/14/2021 11:51:25 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 14: Despite directions by the high-command J&K unit of BJP is finding it difficult to organize farmers’ rallies in support of the farms laws in different parts of Jammu region.
Reliable sources said that BJP high command has asked all party units across the country to organize rallies in their respective areas to educate the farmers about benefits of newly enacted laws.
“J&K unit of BJP is lagging behind all units across the country because party leadership is dominated by leaders based in the urban areas and they don’t have any contact with farming community”, sources said, adding, “due to infighting in the party the incumbent BJP leadership is not ready to take support of couple of those party leaders who enjoyed support of farming community”.
Some city based party leaders, who are blue-eyed boys of the incumbent leadership, were asked to organize farmers’ rallies but they failed to do so because they don’t have direct contact with real farmers.
Although BJP has won District Development Councils (DDCs) elections in the rural areas, most of the leaders won elections in the name of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and they don’t have any contact with the people at the grass-root level.
After passing of farmers’ bills, J&K unit of BJP had started a campaign to educate farmers about the benefits of these bills but party leaders who were part of the campaign were themselves not aware of the agriculture and issues related to farmers.
“Instead of allowing real farmer leaders to lead the campaign, party leadership had assigned this job to urban based leaders who had rather created more confusion among the farming community”, sources said and added that the incumbent BJP leaders in J&K were not allowing mass base leaders to grow within the party.
