Early Times Report
VIJAYPUR, Jan 15: To resolve the issue of unemployment Government Degree College, Vijaypur organized an online guest lecture on the topic "Role of JKEDI in Entrepreneurship Development in Jammu and Kashmir and New Enterprise Creation" in which Mr. Vishal Ray, Incharge Trainings, JKEDI Regional Office, Bari Brahmana, Jammu was the resource person. He emphasized that J&K economy is facing acute problems from last few years. Therefore, only few employment generation sources are working in the UT and entrepreneurship development is one of them. JKEDI has been established by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir in March 1997 to effectively enable Entrepreneurship Development in the State. The Institute started its regular activities from February 2004 and has positioned itself as a learning centre par excellence with state of the art regional centers across Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. Besides, JKEDI community organizers are in all of the 22 districts enabling entrepreneurship and promoting development at the grassroot level. JKEDI (Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute) creates entrepreneurship awareness, skill development and modifies the attitude of the people. It also examines the challenges faced by entrepreneurship in J&K, focuses on their prospects and highlights the schemes available for unemployed youth. He also focused on the start- up schemes to promote the entrepreneurship atmosphere in the UT.
Prof (Dr.) Sangeeta Sudan, Principal of the college expressed her gratitude to the resource person for sharing his expertise and experience. She exhorted that for holistic and sustainable development, there is always a need for JKEDI to step out of its main campuses into districts and even deeper into the community. By combining community organizing skills, life skills and participatory training practices, JKEDI professionals work at the grassroots to create enterprise awareness and readiness among the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
The whole event was coordinated by Dr. Ruchi (HOD Sociology) and formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Gunjeet Mahiwal (HOD, Education).
