Early Times Report
SAMBA, Jan 15: In continuation of its drive against bovine smugglers, Samba Police in fifth consecutive day has successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle bovine in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal by rescuing 5 bovines.
Acting on reliable information regarding transportation of bovines, a police party of PS Ghagwal while performing vehicle checking duty at Naka NHW Tapyal, Ghagwal signalled to stop a Mahindra vehicle without Registration No. coming from Kathua side and moving towards Srinagar.
Instead of stopping the vehicle, the driver accelerated the speed of the vehicle and fled away from the spot. The alert cops successfully chased the vehicle and intercepted it a few metres away from the naka point. However driver managed to escape taking the advantage of darkness.
During checking of the said vehicle, 5 cattle were found laden inside the vehicle without any permission. All the cattle were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was seized on spot.
