| Acute shortage of doctors in sub district hospital Mandi | | | Early Times Report
Poonch, Jan 15: Atiqa Jan , the elected public representative of Block Mandi, (Poonch), had said that Sub District Hospital/Community Health Centre Mandi caters to more than one Lakh population, situated near Line of Control and is a hilly area where near about 80% population falls under BPL category. Being hilly terrain, road traffic accidents keep happening putting lives of the inhabitants on risk because of lack of medical facilities especially the non-availability of doctors in SDH Mandi as well as area adjoining to Mandi.
There are eight sanctioned posts of Medical Officers in SDH Mandi and at present there are only two medical officers working there namely Dr Abdul Qayoom and Dr Tariq Hussain so a total of 6 posts are lying vacant.
There are sanctioned posts of five specialist doctors in SDH Mandi viz. Consultant Surgeon, Consultant Physician, Consultant Gynaecologist, Consultant Paediatrician and Consultant Anaesthetist and out of these five sanctioned consultant posts, only one Consultant is posted in SDH Mandi i.e. Consultant Paediatrics. Moreover sanctioned posts of Medical Officers are lying vacant under National Health Mission also (NRHM). Keeping in view of above serious issue, Atiqa Jan has requested to govt to fill vacant posts of Medical Officers/Specialists at the shortest possible time so that the people of Block Mandi should not suffer anymore. |
