Grappling to seek support
1/15/2021 11:46:39 PM
The J&K unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) failing to organize pro-farmer rallies in Jammu region has exposed the party leadership to the hilt.
The BJP high command has directed the party leaders across the country to organize farmers’ rallies in support of the new farms laws, but the leaders in Jammu seem to be clueless about how to get in touch with the farmers. BJP leaders in Jammu have become so confined to cities that they have lost touch with the rural areas. They don’t even know who the farmers are? These leaders should sit back and introspect to find out why they are in a mess and why they have failed to build a connection with the people on the ground?
The local BJP leaders after coming into power in 2015 became too busy in reaping the fruits of power. They forgot the people who had voted for them. Had they not disowned their own people at that point of time, today they would not have been grappling to seek support. Situation could have been better.
Many BJP leaders from rural areas during the past few years have moved to cities and have forgotten their roots. It’s unfortunate that farmers even don’t know the leaders who represent the saffron party.
According to the media reports the BJP leaders in Jammu are under pressure to put their act together and organize the pro-farmer rallies on war-footing basis.
But the failure of the local leaders has irked the central leadership. Local BJP leaders failing to implement the directions of the party high command has put a question mark on the credibility of the so called “popular” leaders. They are being asked to explain their position.
The BJP leaders in Jammu are paying a heavy price for acting as second fiddles of its former ally Peoples Democratic Party.
Had the BJP leaders mustered courage to oppose the Kashmir centric decisions of the PDP, people in Jammu region would have stood behind them like a rock.
Despite these leaders sharing power with the PDP for nearly three and a half years maintained stoic silence and ensured that they don’t annoy their friends in Kashmir.
They tried their best to remain in their good books and ignored the real fountainhead of power i.e. people of Jammu who had voted for them in the entire region.
At this point of time one can only feel sorry for these leaders as they don’t stand anywhere. Forget rural areas, they have failed to organize any rally even in urban areas.
