DSEJ celebrates National Youth Day to mark birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda

JAMMU, Jan 16: As part of a series of events, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananada, Directorate of School Education Jammu organized a panel discussion on "Role of Youth in National Integration.''
Four students viz. Nidhanshi Bavoria (GGHSS, Rehari Jammu); Farakh Zeba (GGHSS Bhaderwah) ; Titiksha Sharma (GGHSS Kathua); Kaneez Fiza Jaffari (GGHSS Poonch) participated in the discussion.
Director School Education Jammu, Anuradha Gupta, was the chief guest.
Recalling the teachings of Swami Vivekananda, Director School Education Jammu, Anuradha Gupta said that Swami ji emphasized on education as the key for forming ones character, strengthening of mind, expanding the boundaries of intellect and becoming self reliant.
"National Education Policy-2020 also stresses upon skill development which our children need. The directorate intends to focus on multidisciplinary and holistic learning for the children for developing in them leadership qualities, enable them to keep learning new things and till they achieve their goal. A nation can be strong only when its youth is strong," she added. In the panel discussion, the participants expressed their views on national integration, its importance, role of youth, importance of youth in nation building and the significance of National Education Policy-2020 etc. All the panelists put forward their views in a very healthy and vibrant manner.
The National Youth Day was organised by the Directorate through its Cultural and Educational Cell and moderated by Dr. Alka Sharma. In addition to this, Youth Parliament (Kishore Sabha) was organised at Government Higher Secondary School Udhampur (Boys and Girls); Government High School Salani and Purani Poonch and in different schools of Samba to strengthen the roots of Parliamentary Democracy by familiarizing the student community with the procedure and functioning of the Parliament.
