Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 16: Alleging Police inaction, the family members and relatives of the youth, who was injured in a 'shootout' at Paloura while returning home from Gym, sat on dharna outside Janipur Police Station and blocked Janipur-Bantalab road for hours.
The family members shouting slogans against Janipur Police alleged that citing apprehensions of possible attack on them they have lodged a complaint in Janipur Police Station, but the SHO didn't take the cognizance of the complaint.
Talking to media persons outside the Police Station, the family members said that Janipur Police is encouraging hooliganism, which turns into violent acts. "The accused persons are blackmailers, they grab lands to further sell it to the innocent people, instead of giving them possession on sold land they then harass the public. Local Police instead of maintaining law and order in the area have hands in glove with the criminals and land grabbers", alleged female members of the victim's family.
She further said that one of the accused youths was roaming in the Police station like a tourist in a hotel. "It clearly shows that Police have connections with such elements. Police-Criminal nexus is deteriorating peace of the area. We want immediate transfer of SHO and other staff of Janipur Police Station to bring peace in the area", she said.
However, senior officers including SP Jammu North and SDPO Bakshi Nagar rushed on spot and pacified agitating family members.
Meanwhile, District Police Jammu has claimed that two accused have been arrested in attempt to murder by Police Station Janipur, Jammu.
"A case FIR No 8/2021 U/S 307, 341IPC, 34, 3/27 Arms Act was registered by concerned police on the basis of a written complaint lodged at Janipur Police Station by one person namely Happy Singh son of Malkait Singh resident of Paloura, Janipur that he has been fired upon by two persons namely Sohan Singh son of Sarvan Singh and Hoshiyar Singh son of Sarwan Singh resident of Paloura with the intention to kill him when he was coming from Gym in Paloura", Police Spokesperson said.
"A Police team led by SHO Janipur Insp Gurmeet Singh arrested the accused persons. Weapons of offence used in the incident have also been recovered", the spokesperson said, adding that further investigation of the case is going on.
