Mehbooba averts clash between PDP leaders, likely to visit Jammu on 20

Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 16: Even as with the timely intervention of party president Mehbooba Mufti a possible clash between two warring factions of PDP was averted on Thursday, infighting is likely to be intensified in the days to come due to helplessness of the incumbent leadership. Two warring factions in the Jammu unit of PDP are not ready to accommodate each other.
Keeping in view the prevailing situation, PDP president and former chief minister, Mehbooba Mufti is coming to Jammu on January 20 to bring ceasefire among warring factions of the party. “As infighting in Jammu unit is taking ugly turn, Mehbooba Mufti has decided to personally interact with both the warring factions to bring peace”, sources said and added that it was all due to assurance of Mehbooba Mufti that one faction of the party had postponed its proposed meeting on Thursday.
Two warring factions had announced to hold parallel meetings at the same venue and same time on Thursday. Realizing that clashes between two groups of the party would give an opportunity to the administration to seal the party office, Mehbooba Mufti personally called all leaders of the party and convinced them to postpone their meeting.
Reliable sources in the PDP told Early Times said that party leadership appeared to be helpless in taking action against any group of the party due to its weakness. As most of the founder members from Jammu region have already left the party due to policies being pursued by the incumbent leadership, the party in this part of J&K is completely gripped with chaos and confusion.
