1/16/2021 11:33:15 PM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, Jan 16: The open differences have surfaced in Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) over the election of new District Development Committee(DDC) chairman when some senior party leaders showed support towards the new comers to head the posts.
This was strongly resisted by senior functionaries and Prabharis of the district saying this will set a precedence in the party and senior activists will get totally annoyed.
According to sources the party Prabharis and incharges of the district totally objected the head of the organisation in J&K whenv he hinted the names of some new commers including a kin of a former MLA for the posts of Discs.
Taking serious exception to the proposal the incharges if respective districts wanted to know what message he was going to convey to party activists who have served it for decades together.
Sources said the incharge of districts not only protested but warned against breaking the precedence in the party which has been boasting of being an organisation with a difference.
Sources said some senior leaders had convened the meeting yesterday to discuss the name of probable candidates to head DDCs. However, meeting ended without reaching any conclusion in this regard.
Sources said in various districts of Jammu region the State leadership has shown inclination of appointing new comers as chairmen which is not acceptable the majority of Prabharis, Core Committee members and ex legislators.
Sources said some party activists have accused the leadership of taking sides with those who rebelled against the party.
They alleged that even party senior leader did not campaign in those areas where such rebels have contested.
They also accused the senior leadership of annoying some leaders and ex legislators among whom the MLA of Chenani resigned the party which proved costly for it.
Sources said in March the party also gave ticket to a candidate by annoying the senior public representative of the area due to which party lost that seat.
Sources said some Prabharis have even sought the intervention of High Command in the matter so that UT leadership is prevailed not to take decisions which will harm the interests and image of party.
