SRINAGAR, Jan 17: With 126 new cases of Corona Virus being reported today the total number of positive cases in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 1, 23,343. No fresh death was reported in the past 24 hours or so.
Jammu district reported 48 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Srinagar district 34 cases, Budgam district seven cases, Poonch district six cases, Kupwara district five cases, Baramulla, Pulwama, Anantnag and Kupwara districts four cases each, Shopian, Samba and Kathua districts two cases each and Kulgam, Udhampur, Rajouri & Ramban districts one case each.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 126 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 61 from Jammu division and 65 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 23,343. Also no COVID-19 death has been reported from any part of Jammu and Kashmir today.
Moreover, 182 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 133 from Jammu division and 49 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 23,343 positive cases, 1,224 are active positive, 1, 20,198 have recovered and 1,921 have died; 715 in Jammu division and 1206 in Kashmir division.
Out of 42, 56,135 test results available, 41, 32,792 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 10, 06,490 persons have been enlisted for observation which includes 33,364 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 1,224 in isolation and 53,610 in home surveillance. Besides, 9, 16,371 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 25,817 positive cases, 230 active positive, 25,134 recovered, 453 deaths; Baramulla has 8,064 positive cases, 64 active positive, 7,828 recovered, 172 deaths; Budgam has 7,708 positive cases, 50 active positive, 7,543 recovered, 115 deaths; Pulwama has 5,669 positive cases, 64 active positive, 5,517 recovered, 88 deaths; Kupwara has 5,621 positive cases, 67 active positive, 5,460 recovered, 94 deaths.
“Anantnag has 4,850 positive cases, 52 active positive, 4,714 recovered, 84 deaths; Bandipora has 4,678 positive cases, 36 active positive, 4,581 recovered, 61 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,565 positive cases, 86 active positive, 4,433 recovered, 46 deaths; Kulgam has 2,679 positive cases, 41 active positive, 2,584 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,549 positive cases, 51 active positive, 2,459 recovered, 39 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 24,639 positive cases, 216 active positive, 24,056 recovered, 367 deaths; Udhampur has 4,180 positive cases, 80 active positive, 4,043 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,863 positive cases, 11 active positive, 3,797 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,426 positive cases, 20 active positive, 3,342 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,247 positive cases, eight active positive, 3,188 recovered, 51 deaths.
“Samba has 2,821 positive cases, 100 active positive, 2,682 recovered, 39 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,729 positive cases, eight active positive, 2,699 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,477 positive cases, 24 active positive, 2,429 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,128 positive cases, 11 active positive, 2,096 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,633 positive cases, five active positive, 1,613 recovered, 15 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 23,343 positive cases in J&K, 11,451 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
