DDC Doda flags off Walkathon-cum-Awareness Rally on Day 2

DODA, Jan 19: As a part of the ongoing National Road Safety Month, District Development Commissioner, Doda, Dr Sagar D Doifode, today flagged off a Walkathon-cum-Awareness Rally, here on the theme “Sadak Suraksha-Jeevan Raksha”.
Students from different educational institutions, drivers, officers and officials of civil and Police administration participated in the rally.
The Road Safety Walkathon started from DC office Doda, and culminated at TRC near Dak Bungalow, covering a distance of around three KM.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC stressed on the importance of Road Safety and imbibing it as a way of life and not confining it to a mere slogan.
The DDC urged all the stakeholders to follow all the necessary safety measures and traffic rules while travelling. “We need to become ambassadors for promotion of road safety and traffic rules campaign to achieve the aims and objectives of the campaign” he said.
The DDC also expressed satisfaction over the efforts of the MVD and Traffic Police department in reducing the rate of fatal road accidents and bringing down the accidental deaths by 69 percent.
Earlier, Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Er Kuldeep Singh, while welcoming the guests highlighted the series of events to be organised during the Road Safety Month. He said that different programmes like Health checkup for drivers, bike rallies, Symposium, walkathon rallies etc. would be held during the month long campaign at all levels - Tehsil level, Sub division level which would benefit all sections of the society.
The others present were Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kishori Lal Sharma; Assistant Commissioner Development, Prem Singh Chib; Chief Planning Officer, Parshotam Kumar and other officers/officials of various departments.
