Paloura shootout : Insp Gurmeet attached, Nayat posted SHO Janipur

JAMMU, Jan 19: Two days after the family of Paloura shootout held protest alleging police inaction, SSP Jammu Shridhar Patil, removed Inspector Gurmeet Singh from the post of SHO Janipur and attached him with the District Police Line (DPL) Jammu.
Sources said that the Janipur Police remained a centre of criticism due to uncontrolled crime and growing drug business in the area since the time of then SHO Naresh Sharma, after his removal as many as three officers have been shifted from the post of SHO Janipur.
District Police Chief in an attempt to bring a change in area, has posted inspector Nayat Ali as SHO Janipur. “Insp. Gurmeet Singh SHO Janipur shifted to DPL, Insp. Nayat Ali SHO Peer Mitha Jammu transferred and posted as SHO Janipur, Insp. Ajaz Haider from DPL is shifted as SHO Peer Mitha”, order no. 52 0f 2021, dated 18/01/2021 reads.
It is pertinent to mention here that alleging Police inaction, the family members and relatives of the youth who was injured in a ‘shootout’ at Paloura while returning home from Gym, on Saturday sat on Dharna outside Janipur Police Station and blocked Janipur-Bantalab road for hours. They have alleged that Janipur Police was encouraging land grabbing, drug trafficking and other crimes in the area.
