Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 19: Demanding reconsideration of the decision to close the Tanda-Simblehar link road for the local public by the authorities of IIM Jammu, the residents of village Jagti said that such an arbitrary decision is totally unacceptable to the people.
Addressing a press conference here today, the residents of Jagti said that the road was a centuries old foot-path which was later turned into a Pacca road-Tanda Simblehar under PMGSY Scheme in 2008. A small stretch of road nearly 400mts falling in between the land area acquired for establishment of IIM Jammu and as per the reliable sources the said road portion is going to be closed for the public use and forcing the public to go via 4-lane national highway having distance nearly 4 kms for their day to day activities. The matter was also brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner Jammu and Divisional Commissioner Jammu and they also assured the locals that road will not be closed for the local people, and the concerned file was marked and sent to the Asstt Deputy Commissioner Jammu and later sent to the Tehsildar Nagrota. Since then the locals were kept in dark about the decision for the closure of the said road and forcing them to use the alternative road which is not convenient for the local Public of the locality. There are a number of families who are using the said road connectivity or their routine agriculture activities for their land holding fallings on both ends of the said road stretch.
Residents appealed to the administration to rethink the unilateral decision for closing the road connectivity for the locals and forcing them to use an alternative road.
