JMC’s drive against unauthorized constructions continues

JAMMU, Jan 20: In continuation to the drives undertaken against the violators in the areas falling within the jurisdiction of Jammu Municipal Corporation limits, the teams headed by Rajesh Gupta (CEO) and Kamni Kesar (CEO) Enforcement wing of the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) while further intensifying its drive against unauthorized construction in Jammu city and its outskirts. The drive was carried out on the directions of Commissioner JMC, Avny Lavasa. The JMC team sealed 11 such structures including 10 commercial and one residential in Marble Market, Sunjawan, Deeli (Bye-Pass Road), Durga Nagar and Bhatindi areas under the overall supervision of Sudhir Bali, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Jammu Municipal Corporation I/C Joint Commissioner (Administration) raised illegally in violation to provisions of Jammu Master Plan, 2032. The actions have been taken under the provisions of Section 8(1) of the Jammu and Kashmir Control of Building Operation Act, 1988.
It is also pertinent to mention here that JMC has demolished/sealed a number of unauthorized constructions during the recent past in particular to desist violators from raising the constructions without permission/in-violation of the approved building plans which besides violations causing impediment to the plan development of Jammu City.
The JMC further appeal to the general public to refrain from raising illegal constructions and get building plans approved for commercial and residential purpose and raise building according to approved building plan, failing which action warranted under Jammu and Kashmir Control of Building Operation Act, 1988 and Jammu and Kashmir, Municipal Corporation Act,2000 will be taken against the violators including sealing and demolition of the illegal structures.
