EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Jan 20: On the eve of “Parkash Purb” of Guru Gobind Singh ji, the members of Sikh community led by Chairman J&K Gurdwara Board, Tarlochan Singh Wazir submitted a charter of demands to Lt Governor Manoj Sinha.
In a press release issued today, Tarlochan Singh Wazir said that minority Sikh Community in J&K is being continuously neglected with respect to their religious, political and social problems and genuine demands since long.
Singh said that today again the Sikh Sangat endorsed and resolved to strive for burning demands of Sikh community in Jammu and Kashmir which mainly included to stop neglect of Punjabi language as after the Punjabi language in J&K official languages Act 2020 was left out and to express resentment large scale peaceful protests were lodged in every corner of Jammu and Kashmir not only by Sikh Community but also by many other Punjabi speaking sections of society. Multilingual culture is part of our heritage in J&K and we hope its inclusion as official language will not only help in keeping communal harmony and its rich legacy, but will also promote communal harmony in J&K.
The others demand raised included removal of shops constructed by JMC on Gurdwara land at Chand Nagar Jammu, implementation of Anand Marriage Act in J&K to enable the Sikh community to register their marriages under Anand Marriage Act and to amend highly discriminatory SRO by including the non-migrant Sikhs living in Kashmir Valley at par with Non-Migrant Kashmir Pandits.
Expressing its solidarity with peaceful struggle of farmers who are agitating on Delhi borders against the three controversial Anti-Farmer bills, the Sikh community appealed the Govt. of India to repeal these Anti-Farmer laws to strengthen every aspect of farming and Indian Agriculture. Singh said that the community pays rich tributes to all the farmers who have lost their lives during this peaceful agitation.
