Premier League: Khalsa Warriors, ASK Club win hockey openers

Jammu, Jan 21: Khalsa Warriors and ASK Club on Thursday won the opening matches of Premier League of Jammu District at K K Hakku Astro Turf Hockey Stadium here.
As per results issued by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, two matches in the discipline of Hockey were played.
In the first match, Khalsa Warriors crippled the Bandhurakh Hockey Club side by scoring 12 goals to nil.
Manpreet Singh remained center of attraction by netting highest six goals followed by Gagandeep Singh and Karanjeet Singh with four and two goals respectively.
In the second match ASK Hockey Club defeated Dashmesh Hockey Club by margin of 5-1.
The technicals contributed in officiating the matches were Mr. Sohail Azeem and Mr. Ishtiak Hussain.
Ashok Singh, Divisional Sports Officer, J&K Sports Council, Jammu was introduced at the start of matches and promise to support players and ensure transparent conduct of matches.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday inaugurated the Jammu edition of Premier League.
He said that Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing revolution in the sports sector and the UT Government is taking innovative measures to overhaul the sports ecosystem of J&K, ensuring modern sports infrastructure coupled with world class training for the young sporting talent to make J&K a sporting power house.
J&K is perhaps the first to organize 1250 matches across all the districts in four different disciplines - Football, Hockey, Volleyball and Kabaddi, he added.
