Alleged castration of transgender triggers protest in Jammu, case registered | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 21: Alleged castration of a transgender by one of the members from the same community on Thursday triggered protest in Jammu following which police lodged an FIR and started investigation into the case. Police here said that hundreds of transgender members protested against alleged castration of their community people by other group. The protesters blocked the traffic at Bikram Chowk and accused police of “shielding accused”. They said that one transgender from Ramgarh forcefully picked up four members of the community from Belicharana area and took them to Ramgarh. “They castrated their private parts after which the protest was staged,” police said. They added that a case under FIR no 16/21, under sections 363, 323 of IPC was registered at Police Station Satwari and action initiated against another transgender. |
