The Deputy Commissioner, who is also the chairman of District Disaster Management Authority Anantnag, issued an order in this regard and directed Principal Government Medical College Anantnag and Chief Medical Officer Anantnag to counter the false information and rumour mongering. “Anybody found spreading false information about the vaccines be brought to book and action as warranted under law be initiated,” reads the order issued by DC Anantnag Anshul Garg (IAS). In his order, DC Anantnag has stated that Covid-19 vaccine has been declared safe by the National Regulatory Authority. “Government of India in close collaboration with states and UT’s has launched the inoculation drive of COVID-19 vaccination and health care workers and frontline workers are being inoculated as per the priority decided by National Expert Group in Phase-I and to ensure the vaccination drive is successful and the pandemic is eventually eradicated the National Regulatory Authority has declared both the vaccines-Covaxin and Covishied- safe and immunogenic,” says DC Anantnag in his order. The Deputy Commissioner further says that he has received reports that some miscreants were spreading misleading and unfounded rumours through social and other media and are trying to create doubts about the safety and immunogenicity of the vaccines. In his order, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag had directed Principal Government Medical College Anantnag and Chief Medical Officer Anantnag to take effective steps and counter the false information with the help of social and media platforms. Besides this, both of them have been directed to ensure the dissemination of factual messages of renowned doctors of the district.
