Terrorist strike in Kishtwar, lobed Grenade on SOG party, cop injured

Jammu, Jan 22: The incharge Special Operation Group Kishtwar Inspector Dedar Singh today escaped a bid on his life when unidentified terrorist lobed a hand Grenade on his gypsy while he was on routine petrol duty in Chatroo area of Kishtwar District.
One cop received minor injuries in today terror attack due to grenade splinters.
As per the details available with Early Times, terror once again return back to hunt Kishtwar District after prevailing calm in the District since last nearly one and half year after the gruesome murder of RSS leader Chanderkant Sharma when the terrorist lobed the grenade on police gypsy near Dadpath some 15 KM from Kishtwar town— luckily the grenade misses the target and exploded on the road.
Following grenade attack, the eyewitnesses told the Early Times that their was a retaliation fire from the police party as a result of which the terrorist involved behind the attack escaped from the spot.
As soon as the incident took place, the army and additional troops immediately rush to the spot and cordon off the area beside launched massive search operation in the area to nab the terrorists involved in today’s attack.
The eyewitness inform that the public transport on Kishtwar-Chatroo-Sinthan National Highway 244 has immediately been stoped and the vehicles were allowed to move only after area clearance by the security forces.
SSP Kishtwar Dr. Harmeet Singh Mehta told the Early Times that one cop has received minor injuries in today’s incident and confirmed that it is a terror attack.
“We have registered an FIR and started its investigation— the search operation which started following the attack has been stopped due to darkness— and same will be resumed with the first light of the day” SSP Kishtwar said.
Meanwhile the intelligence sources told the Early Times that the militants involved in today’s terror attack is a new terror module having link with South Kashmir Shopian/Kulgam District.
The sources further added that militants involved in today’s terror attack had some local support and the point of suspicion is towards joint handiwork of HM and LeT.
Meanwhile security has been briefed in Kishtwar town and its adjoining areas.
