Police solve sexual assault case, arrested accused persons

SAMBA, Jan 22: Police have claimed to solve a sexual assault case that took place at Suchani near Vijaypur on January 12.
According to police, a written information was submitted at PS Vijaypur by a 65 years old lady regarding sexual assault on her by some unknown persons.
In her complaint, the old woman said that when she was on morning walk on Rahya Suchani Road, some unknown persons took hold of her and forcibly put her into an unknown vehicle. Thereafter she was taken to some isolated plot near railway crossing Suchani, Vijaypur wherein she was sexually assaulted by the unknown persons one by one. After sexually assaulting her, she was left at the spot. The accused persons also inflicted injuries to her.
On this information, FIR No. 08 U/S 376(D), 323 IPC was registered at Police Station Vijaypur and special investigation team headed by SDPO Vijaypur, consisting of SHO Vijaypur, IC PP SIDCO & other Officers were constituted to carry out prompt investigation in the case. Since the case was blind in nature with no identity of accused persons, so lot of emphasis was laid in the investigation of case. The CCTV footages were analyzed in and adjacent areas wherein the suspected accused person have reportedly moved in the vehicle. Human sources were also activated. During the process, due to lead provided by own sources, the names of two persons Mohd Anwar alias Lai and Mohd Shoket alias Shoktu came to surface. Both the persons were picked up after due delligence and technical follow up. The interrogation of duo led to unearthing of whole incident where they stated that the vehicle involved in the commission of offence was a black coloured Bolero which was subsequently recovered upon their disclosure. FSL team was put into service to collect vital evidence from scene of crime. The interrogation of duo and evidence collected suggests involvement of 4 to 5 persons in the commission of crime. The third accused Mohd Din alias Deenu has also been arrested from Ramban area today after hectic searches and follow up. Two other accused persons are at large and efforts are on to nab them. The special investigation team has solved a total blind case within time bound and professional manner.
