Tawi Trekkers J&K to organize day long trek to Bhupnergarh fort

Jammu, Jan 23: Continuing its series of one day treks in thePurmandal, Surinsar, Mansar area, Tawi Trekkers, the pioneer trekking club of J&K, shall organize a day long trek to Bhupnergarh fort on 31st January,2021.
The group of about 20 trekkers comprising veterans as well as young boys and girls shall be led by Sumit Khajuria, a highly trained mountaineer and shall include patron of the club.
Ashwani Sharma, former MLA, a founder member and now an advisor of the club Prof. Lalit Magotra, president of the club Ram Khajuria, ex. deputy director Doordarshan Kendra Jammu Sanjeet Khajuria , Principal of Oriental Academy Sr.Secondary School, Vivek Chauhan; Co- Chairman of the club Zorawar Singh Jamwal besides a sports journalist Sanjeev Sharma, Sushil Singh and Sonam Sidharth, Treasurer and an executive member of Mountaineering Association of J&K respectively and a host of other active members of the club including Abhimanyu Sherpa (Jt. Secretary), Sumit Singh, AshmikaThappa, Shivani Charak& Arun Deep Singh, both international sport climbers;Sakshi Magotra&Vishali Sharma, both trained mountaineers &Bhanu Partap Singh will join.
The 12 km trek shall starts from Sarain near Nud in Samba district and culminates at Mansar lake after passing through Bhupnergarh fort. The trek is unique as it involves 4 km of beach trekking (wet sands), about 2 kms of gentle ascent to Bhupnergarh fort and finally an enjoyable 6km trek to Mansar lake through calm and cool dense forest.
It is pertinent to mention here that to promote this area in particular and other lesser known beauty spot of Jammu in general, for soft adventure activities the club has already conducted four such one day treks from Mohoregarh to Mansar, Dhergarh to Mansar, KattalBattal to Aitham via PahairhDevta and a trek to Devi Pindian near Katra besides a trek from Dudu to Kaplash via Seoj Dhar during the last couple of months.
