MVD Samba organises Road Safety awareness cum signature campaign

SAMBA, Jan 23: Continuing the series of activities on 6th day of 32nd National Road Safety Week, a Road Safety awareness programme cum signature campaign was conducted at ICC Samba by the Motor Vehicles Department Samba under the supervision of ARTO Samba Mrs.Rehana Tabassam.
A large no. of DL aspirants and general public participated in the programme. The programme was also attended by officials of ARTO office Samba. While speaking on the occasion ARTO Samba exhorted the DL aspirants to follow Road Safety norms with letter & spirit so that lives of commuters can be saved. He also stated that every person of society has an important role to play for the safety of road users by following all the road safety rules so that alarming rate of deaths which occur due to accidents can be minimized. Motor Vehicle Inspector Vikas Srivats also addressed the participants on the occasion regarding the importance of road signages. He told the participants to follow each & every road sign so that they can reach safely to their respective desinations. He told the DL aspirants that the trial board can only access their driving skills in Trial ground but can't judge them how they will behave on roads. He also told them that the future is not far when enforcement of Motor Vehicle Rules will be done through CCTV cameras like foreign countries and their minor mistakes on roads can lead them e-challaning and advised them to make a habbit ofvfollowing Road Safety Rules so as to avoid problems in future due to road safety rule violations.He also delivered some other tips to the participants on Road safety.At the end of the programme a Road Safety Pledge was taken by the participants through an on spot signature campaign. All the participants put their signature on signture board by pledging not to drink and drive, not to overspeed, to follow all road safety rules, always wearing helmet and seat belts during driving 2w and 4w.
