Mehbooba plans pan-India political outreach!
1/24/2021 11:40:34 PM
early times report
jammu, Jan 24: In a bid to gain public attention, former Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party, President, Mehbooba Mufti is planning a "mega political outreach across the country to seek support for her stand against the abrogation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir."
Sources said for the last few weeks, Mehbooba Mufti has been discussing with her party colleagues the plan for a "political outreach" with politicians from various political parties across the country.
Sources said during the recent PDP meeting, the party leadership came to a consensus that the "time has arrived to start the process to keep the party alive in the minds of the people of Jammu and Kashmir."
Sources said Mehbooba looks ahead to start the "outreach" from New Delhi during the first round of the proposed trip. She looks ahead to meet politicians from the opposition parties especially those from the erstwhile United Progressive Alliance.
Sources said initially the PDP President looks ahead to discuss the matter with the so called Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration or PAGD led by National Conference, President, Dr Farooq Abdullah, who has been silent for the last few months.
Sources said Mehbooba wants to see the reaction of the other constituents of the PAGD on how they react to proposal.
"One thing is clear whether the other PAGD members agree to the proposal or not, she(Mehbooba) will start the outreach even if it has to be through PDP alone," said a source in the known of the matter.
Sources said Mehbooba is so keen on the plan that she has already started looking for faces from her party who can accompany her for the same outreach.
It was reliably learnt that after discussing the proposal with the PAGD, Mehbooba looks ahead to seek a formal permission from the concerned authorities.
It is pertinent to mention that since her release from the detention, Mehbooba has been unable to attract much of public attention in Kashmir.
Despite repeated attempts Mehbooba Mufti or other leaders from the party were not available for comments.
