GDC Bishnah organizes symposium on National Voters Day

JAMMU, Jan 25: NSS unit of Government Degree College (GDC) Bishnah celebrated 11th National Voters Day by organizing a symposium on the topic 'Importance of Voters in Strengthening Democracy'. To begin with the Principal, teaching faculty of the college, non-teaching staff and students took Voters Day pledge. In all 6 participants participated in the competition and shared their views on the topic. The presentations of students were adjudicated by a jury comprising Prof Archana Bakshi, Dr Suman Bala and Prof Ashu Manhas. Anmol of Sem-III bagged 1st Prize, Riya of Sem-V got 2nd Prize and Vishesh of Sem-III secured 3rd position. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Anuradha Pandoh, Principal of the college exhorted the students and staff members to exercise their right to vote keeping in view the theme of National Voters Day 2021 "Maklng Our Voters Empowered, Vigilant, Safe and Informed” for electing their representatives so that the laws, policies are made for the welfare of the citizens. Prof Amit Kumar Sharma, NSS Programme Officer also threw light on the value of vote that makes the citizens the real rulers for the governance of the country. The prize winners were given mementos and the other participants were given Certificates of Participation.
