Govt apathetic towards SRO-43/120 cases, several files pending for approval in CS office
1/25/2021 11:20:30 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Jan 25: The Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory Administration is totally apathetic towards the candidates seeking appointments in the Government departments on compassionate grounds and they have been made to wait for a considerable period of time to avail the benefit of the Government’s policy.
In fact, for the last over one year some of the files are gathering dust in the Chief Secretary (CS) office and there is no clarity what is policy of the government towards the candidates who are seeking appointment in government departments on compassionate grounds.
Our original documents including professional degrees are with the files. We are not able to do anything in absence of our documents nor can we apply for any other job, as we have nothing to show.
Addressing a press conference here today, the SRO-43/120 Candidates of All Civil Department member, Gurpreet Singh, “Several candidates have applied for engagement against SRO 43/120 of 1994 read with SRO 120 in civil department but our files are pending in Chief Secretary office J&K”.
Singh said that since the Governor rule was imposed and now under Union Territory Administration our files and pleas to government remain unaddressed. “It is also apprised that some of similar cases have already been settled by the government but many of the files have not been taken so far and no decision is being taken”, Singh said.
As a humanitarian gesture, the Government erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir state had framed Compassionate Appointment Rules in the year 1994 after the eruption of terrorism and notified the same vide SRO-43.
These rules apply to the compassionate appointment of a person who is a family member of a Government employee who dies in harness other than due to militancy related action and a Government employee who dies as a result of militancy related action.
"It is very unfortunate that several candidates have crossed the age limit and are suffering financial problems. Many candidates are facing financial constraints", Singh said.
We appeal the J&K UT administration led by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to give due consideration to our issue as hundreds of youths are facing problems and we have great expectations from the administration.
