Issue OBC certificates for job seekers from OBCs: Manjit Singh
'Seeks 27% reservation for OBC in J&K'
2/2/2021 10:14:20 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Feb 2: Apni Party Provincial President and Former Minister Manjit Singh has appealed Govt to do away with the practice of renewing Other Backward Class (OBC) and issuing Other Social Caste (OSC) certificates for the job seekers from the OBC community.
Manjit Singh, in a statement here, said the Other Social Caste certificates are being issued to the OBC community even after the scrapping of special status.
"The Govt should reject OSC for the OBC community and directly issue OBC for job seekers even in J&K Govt. Earlier our youth had to file for an OSC certificate to apply in the J&K Govt jobs and separately get an OBC certificate for central Govt jobs," said Manjit Singh in a statement.
He said that this practice should be stopped and only OBC should be issued to the OBC community. The OBC certificate should be issued once for lifetime.
"The youth who apply for different posts in Govt jobs face problems when the majority is not able to renew their certificates within time limit in view of the obligation that the OBC certificates will have to be renewed every year which is not possible for everyone," said Manjit Singh.
He was speaking at a public meeting which was organized by OBC leader Sohan Singh Sony at ward No 33, Subash Nagar.
In this public meeting, the people appraised him about the problems being faced by them like underdevelopment of their residential areas, unscheduled electricity cuts and improper drinking water supply.
Manjit Singh, referring to the issues of unemployed youth, said that the Govt should review renewal rules for OBC certificates and ensure that there is no need to renew them in future for the facility of the unemployed youth.
He said that "J&K Govt should implement 27% reservation for OBC people like the rest of the country." Speaking on the occasion, ex-MLA Faqir Nath said that the OBC as well as SC Community have remained neglected by the Govts in past and they were exploited as vote banks.
"The people are aware and they have supported the Apni Party for its developmental policies and policy of unity among the people, and equal rights for all the people of J&K," said Ex-MLA Faqir Nath.
Prominent among those who were present on the occasion included Ex-MLA Faqir Nath, Shanker Singh Chib, Ajaz Kazmi, RK Lalotra, Vikram Manhas, and others.
On this occasion, Monika Devi, Shama Devi, Kanchan Devi, Shartishta Devi, Joginder Kumar, Raman Kumar, Raman Kumar, Vinod Kumar, Ajit Kumar and Rakesh Kumar joined the Apni Party.
