DIC Jammu hosts series of camps to aware youth about PMEGP

JAMMU, Feb 5: District Industries Centre, Jammu organised a series of camps to aware the youth about Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP)-the flagship self-employment Scheme.
Awareness camps cum seminars were held at Sarore in Block Bishnah on Feb 4, 2021 and Village Chakrohi in Block Suchetgarh and Village Hakkal, Block Phallian Mandal, on 5th February.
The unemployed youth of these villages were educated about the benefits of the scheme and various other incentives being provided by Department of Industries and Commerce.
During the camp, the prospective young entrepreneurs were informed that the maximum cost of the project/unit admissible under PMGEP in the manufacturing sector is Rs 25 lakh and Rs.10 lakhs in the Service sector. The participants were further told that the general category male candidates are eligible for 15% subsidy in urban area and 25% in rural area, while Special category candidates (including SC/ST/OBC/Minorities/Women, Ex-servicemen, Physically handicapped, etc.) are eligible for 25% subsidy in urban areas and 35% subsidy in rural areas.
The youth were also made aware about various industrial incentives available to them under the Industrial Development Scheme-2017 and New Industrial Policy which was recently launched by Lieutenant General, UT of Jammu.
They were informed about the procedure for availing incentives like Capital Investment Subsidy, Central Interest Subsidy and Central insurance Subsidy under IDS-2017.
Awareness about the State Freight Subsidy scheme was also imparted to the participants.
The local people appreciated the efforts of the Industries and Commerce Department and demanded that similar awareness camps shall be organised regularly to generate awareness among masses at the grass-root level.
The camp at Sarore, Block Bishnah was attended by Functional Manager, DIC Jammu, Arshad Noomani; Rakesh Mahajan, Poonam Rani and Sarpanch Vinod Charak and Gopal Singh and representatives and officials of Rural Development Department.
At Village Chakrohi, Block Suchetgarh, the programme was attended by BDC Suchetgarh, Tarsem Singh; Ex-Minister, Sham Lal Choudhary, Functional Manager, DIC Jammu, Arshad Noomani, Amit Dingra, Rajeshwar Singh and other officials and elected representatives of Rural Department and the programme organised at Hakkal, Block Phallian Mandal was attended by Functional Manager, DIC Jammu, Indu Sakshi, Param Chadgal and Sarpanch Sushma Devi along with other elected representatives of Rural Development Department.
