DC Anantnag conveyed meeting for early opening of Margan top, Sinthan top roads

Jammu, Feb 20: In an unprecedented move of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, Deputy Commissioner Anatnag conveyed a meeting of the various officials for early opening of strategic Margan Top road that provide the connectivity to unconnected areas of Marwah and Warwan of Kishtwar District having the population of around 45000 souls.
As per the details the details available with Early Times, both Marwah and Warwan areas of Kishtwar District are presently cut off from the rest of the country due to heavy snowfall in the area and only road leading to these areas cross through Margan top situated between Kishtwar and Anantnag District of South Kashmir which remain covered due to snowfall and the road opens only when snow melted in the month of April and May every year.
The officials sources told the Early Times that government of Jammu and Kashmir this years plan to throw prestigious Sinthan top and Margan top road open by 2nd week of March 2021 for which the snow clearance on Sinthan road situated at an altitude of 12500 feet above sea has been started over a month ago while the snow clearance on Margan top situated at an altitude of 10500 feet above sea level is yet to begin for which District Administration Anantnag has started its exercise.
As per the meeting notice issued of Additional Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Dated 20-2-2021, “in order to discuss some important issues regarding opening of Margan Top and Sinthan Top, a meeting shall be held under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Anantnag on 23/2-2021 at 3 PM in the meeting hall of DC office Anantnag” read the notice.
ADC Anantnag (S), ACR Anantnag, Xen PMGSY Anantnag, Xen MED Anantnag, General Manager (P) NHIDCL Kishtwar, Tehsildar Larnoo/Kokarnag and District Information Officer Anantnag has been directed to attend the said meeting.
The officials sources said that if things goes as per plan, both the strategic roads will be thrown open by 2/3rd week of March added that this step of the government will ease out the sufferings of the common people of Marwah sub Division who are facing difficulties to move out of their homes for various kind of works due to closure of the Sinthan and Margan top roads.
