Refusing To Mend Ways
2/21/2021 11:20:42 PM
Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti has once again rubbed salt on the wounds of nationalist people by talking about reviving the dialogue process with Pakistan.
She gave this statement outside the home of a martyred policeman killed by militants sponsored by our rogue neighbor. Despite being cut to size, Mehbooba is refusing to mend her ways. Instead of condemning Pakistan and the militants sponsored by it she wants that parleys should be held with the neighbouring country.
When Mehbooba was the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, she announced amnesty for stone-pelters, compelled the Centre to announce unilateral ceasefire and did everything to make separatists feel comfortable.
After being ousted from power, she has been talking about Kashmir being a problem. She in a way is trying to project her party as an offshoot of the Hurriyat Conference that has become irrelevant after the Centre’s August 5, 2019 decision to revoke J&K’s special status and bifurcate it into two union territories. Mehbooba needs to be told that there is outrage against Pakistan across the country and people want India to take decisive action against our rogue neighbor that has been exporting terror for the past three decades into Jammu and Kashmir.
It’s high time for Mehbooba to decide what she wants to do? If she has to remain a part of the mainstream camp then she will have to give up the narrative she is trying to build. If she keeps on issuing irresponsible statements she will end up in a mess.
Since the day Kashmir centric politicians have been released most of them have maintained silence over the issues concerning the national security and the foreign policy of the Government of India. Mehbooba is the only leader, who has been trying to rake up the controversial issues and is trying to instigate the people. Recently, Inspector General of Police—Kashmir Range—Vijay Kumar cautioned politicians against instigating people. He warned that if the leaders don’t refrain from such acts they will be booked as the dossier is being prepared against them.
Mehbooba needs to be told that times have changed and she can no longer be given the liberty to do whatever she wants. India’s foreign policy is clear that no parleys with Pakistan are possible till it stops exporting terror and bleeding us. She needs to be reminded that no one takes her seriously anymore as Mehbooba and her party have lost relevance in the changed political scenario.
