Take proactive steps to end miseries of residents: Munish Gupta asks govt

2/21/2021 11:24:10 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Feb 21: People living in Lane No 5 of Ekta Vihar, Kunjwani are dismayed over the bad condition of roads and lanes in the area. They are also upset with the fact that the garbage is not being lifted on a regular basis from their area which in a way presents a messy picture.
Though Lane No 5 of Ekta Vihar, Kunjwani is a part of the prestigious Gandhi Nagar Assembly constituency but it is presenting a sordid tale of absolute neglect from the people at the helm.
The successive governments have failed the people of this colony and they are suffering like anything.
Residents said that the roads and lanes of the area are in dilapidated condition, adding that no concern has been shown towards their improvement. They said that roads should be well-maintained so that they remain in proper condition thereby paving way for the locals to move around without any difficulty whatsoever.
“The tiles that have been laid on the lanes have come off since long and they are yet to be re-fixed by the authorities.
During the rainy season the rain water gets collected in the ditches and potholes.
It gets difficult to move around but the same does not make any difference for the people who ruled us in the past,” said the residents.
The residents said that the municipal authorities have failed them since the garbage remains unattended for days together thus creating problems for the people to move on the roads.
They said that some of the garbage gets collected in drains thus creating yet another problem.
“The garbage including the polythene sheets gets collected in the drains and as such there is choking of the drains. Since the drains are open the foul smell emanating from the same creates problems for the residents.
This issue needs to be resolved and that too at the earliest,” said the residents.
The residents said that the roads need to be properly developed so that there is no dust during the summer season.
They said that many health related issues in the area are due to the dust that comes up due to the bad roads of the area. The residents said that they are craving for the basic amenities and it is the duty of the government to provide them all the facilities.
They said that people of the area are living a primitive life since the basic amenities are being denied to them.
Munish Gupta, Editor-in-Chief, Early Times has demanded that the government should pay immediate attention to the problems of the people living in Lane No 5 of Ekta Vihar, Kunjwani.
Munish said that people of the area have been left at the mercy of God and no concrete action is being taken to mitigate the sufferings, adding that proactive steps should be taken to end their miseries.
Munish said that the residents are not only entitled to basic things but to other things that come up with the passage of time.
He said that swift action is need of the hour and the government should speed up the process of mitigating the problems of people.
