Jammu, Feb 22: Alleging Police inaction in male-to-female Sex Reassignment Surgery (SRS) of two youth by a group of Kinner, the members of transgender community attempted self-immolation outside the Civil Secretariat, here today.
However, police officials present on the spot foiled the attempt. The transgenders alleged that after lapse of over a month, no arrest has been made by the Police into the case of male-to-female sex reassignment surgery two local youths. “Duo victim of forcefully committed, male-to-female SRS have two children each, now who will feed them”, said a transgender, shouting slogan against the accused Police for its failure to take action against the head of another group of transgenders, Sonia.
“Police’s inaction forced us to take this extreme step, we don’t want to make suffer Public, but when you have no other option, what you will do”, said another transgender. “I’m a widow and my son has two children, now who will feed them, Police and administration are not listening us”, said Sarvjeet, whose son’s gender was forcefully changed by Sonia.
