Early Times Report

Poonch, Feb 22: The health facilities in the District Hospital Poonch are deteriorating with each passing day due to alleged mismanagement by the helmsmen.
According to the details available with Early Times the expensive and highly sophisticated medical equipment have been gathering dust in the storeroom of the hospital due to their non installation.
The delay in the installation has led to people remaining deprived of the facilities particularly in getting their diagnostic tests etc.
Sources in the department informed Early Times that the UltraSound machine in the hospital was to be replaced with a new one and that new machine has already arrived but till date it has not been installed and is lying in the store.
Similarly, many truck loads of other medical equipment including dialyzers, important chemicals and kits used in laboratories were sent to the district hospital through the World Bank but they have been gathering dust in the storeroom for the last one and half month, they added.
Besides, the non-seriousness of the Health Department Poonch can be gauged from the fact that many employees have been posted in other areas.
“Despite the fact that there is a dearth of employees in the district hospital due to heavy rush of patients but shockingly several employees have been discharging their duties in other areas rather than their actual place of posting on the direction of Chief Medical Officer of the district,” they alleged.
They further said that not only the regular employees of the hospital, even the employees of NHM also work in other areas instead of their place of posting.
When Early Times contacted the Chief Medical Officer Poonch, he evaded the queries and said that he would look into the matter.
