Is it Chor Ki Dadhi Mein Tinka?: Mehbooba’s reaction to IGP’s veiled warning raises many questions
2/23/2021 12:25:24 AM

Early Times Report

Jammu, February 22: Although IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar had not mentioned the name of any politician involved in instigating innocent people of Kashmir on fake news or rumours, PDP president and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today reacted on statement of police head of Kashmir Valley.
Mehbooba’s over-reaction on IGP’s statement is a clear indication that she was facing allegations of instigating people because she has been using his social media account to highlight cases of alleged attempts to kidnap a minor baby.
On Friday, IGP Kashmir had warned some politicians with necessary action irrespective of stature if they try to instigate people on fake news or rumours.
“Leaders of some mainstream political parties are trying to instigate people on the basis of rumours. I want to request, appeal to them, not to instigate people on the basis of fake news. No matter how big a leader, we have prepared dossiers and are bringing every activity on the record. If need arises we will take action also,” the IG had warned.
Today Mehbooba reacted to IGP’s statement, “IGP Kashmir must do his duty and that she will do her own adding that if police plans to arrest her for her work, so be it.”.
On February 17, Mehbooba Mufti had tried to give hype to an alleged attempt to kidnap a minor girl in Kashmir Valley. She posted a series of tweets and it was only after tweets IGP Kashmir had given a veiled warning.
“Amid long faces & a reigning silence, a 9-year-old girl in red scarf & green outfit sat wondering about a sudden shift in her life. Her tiny, shivering hands apparently revealed her freakish state of mind”, she tweeted.
In her earlier tweets she mentioned, “Be ches khotchan (I am scared),” she told her uncle and hugged him tight. Army also conducted a search operation at the family’s house in an attempt to intimidate them. The girl & family are traumatized. Justice can only be served if a proper FIR is filed & the family is not harassed for approaching the police.”
