Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 24: Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) intensifying its ongoing signature campaign to apprise the Central Govt regarding the unresolved pending issues of DPs of 1947 from PoK held a meeting at Gadi Garh, Jammu.
In the meeting, it was reiterated their demands for the creation of 2 constituencies for DPs. The participants members also urged upon Justice (Retd.) Ranjna Parkash Desia, Chairperson Delimitation Commission to seek suggestion from other suffering sections of society particularly DPs of 1947 from POK besides political parties before taking a final call on the demarcation of constituencies. The participants also appealed the Chairperson to carve out two constituencies for DPs, claiming for their representation in the Legislative Assembly to represent the aspirations of DPs awaiting final settlement despite a lapse of more than 7 decade period.
Addressing the meeting, Gurdev Singh President JKSAC along with Dwarka Nath Khajuria said that the Commission has completed the task of data collection process to carve out the new constituencies on the basis of 2011 census and are likely to come to J&K to seek the suggestions of various political parties for the demarcation of the constituencies.
Expressing his concern Gurdev Singh said that despite of several representations made by DPs in this regard no feedback has been taken from them yet. He further said the DPs were crying since their migration to defreeze their share of seats to raise their voice in the legislature with regard to their settlement which is still incomplete and insufficient. He said that DPs are very hopeful that Former Supreme court Judge being a Chairperson of the Commission would take cognizance of DPs sufferings and injustice done to them would deliver justice and further added that it would be gross injustice to DPs if the report is finalized and submitted to GOI without giving a chance to DPs to present their views in this regard.
Others who spoke in the meeting are Tarlok Singh Tara, Balbir Singh, Inderjeet Singh, Jasbir Singh (Panch), Bhagwan Singh and Hardial Singh.
