JKNPSEUF demands scrapping of New Pension Scheme
2/24/2021 10:59:52 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Feb 24: Demanding scrapping of New Pension Scheme (NPS) and implementation of Old Pension Scheme in favour of all government employees of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu & Kashmir NPS Employees United Front (JKNPSEUF) said that the NPS is anti-employee.
Addressing a press conference here today, JKNPSEUF UT Chairman Ashwani Sharma and UT President Mohd Ashraf said that NPS mars the rights of government employees of the UT. The JKNPSEUF leaders said that a government employee sacrifices the prime of his life for the service of the nation and expects that his pension will protect him from the financial constraints in his post retirement life.
The only hope of their financial security was snatched from them a decade ago when the defined benefit pensions were stopped for all employees who joined after 1st January 2010 and NPS started by the decision of the then JK Government. The JKNPSEUF leaders requested Union Finance Ministry and LG administration to have a revision the decision of earlier government and scrap the New Pension Scheme (NPS) as this has taken away the rights of Central and UT Government Employees to have pensions and family pensioner. "It offers us neither a guaranteed pension, nor gratuity and other benefits,” they said. The JKNPSEUF leadership assured the NPS employees that our Forum will highlight this issue with full force and compel the government to cover all central and UT Government Employees under old pension scheme.
