SRINAGAR, Feb 24: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 74 new cases of Corona Virus following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 26,093. No fresh case was reported from eight districts with no death being reported in the past 24 hours or so.
Srinagar district reported 19 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Baramulla district 14 cases, Udhampur district 11 cases, Anantnag district nine cases, Jammu district seven cases, Pulwama district four cases, Budgam district three cases, Kupwara and Kulgam districts two cases each and a case each in Ganderbal, Doda & Kishtwar districts.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 74 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 20 from Jammu division and 54 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 26,093.
Moreover, 69 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 10 from Jammu division and 59 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 26,093 positive cases, 771 are active positive, 1, 23,367 have recovered and 1,955 have died; 725 in Jammu division and 1230 in Kashmir division.
Out of 50, 90,890 test results available, 49, 64,797 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 12, 82,976 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 34,417 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 771 in isolation and 1, 10,459 in home surveillance. Besides, 11, 35,374 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 26,853 positive cases, 318 active positive, 26,074 recovered, 461 deaths; Baramulla has 8,230 positive cases, 72 active positive, 7,983 recovered, 175 deaths; Budgam has 7,870 positive cases, 44 active positive, 7,707 recovered, 119 deaths; Pulwama has 5,846 positive cases, 44 active positive, 5,712 recovered, 90 deaths; Kupwara has 5,679 positive cases, nine active positive, 5,574 recovered, 96 deaths.
"Anantnag has 5,001 positive cases, 40 active positive, 4,875 recovered, 86 deaths; Bandipora has 4,713 positive cases, 16 active positive, 4,635 recovered, 62 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,665 positive cases, 19 active positive, 4,599 recovered, 47deaths; Kulgam has 2,723 positive cases, 14 active positive, 2,655 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,602 positive cases, 22 active positive, 2,540 recovered, 40 deaths," reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 25,186 positive cases, 104 active positive, 24,709 recovered, 373 deaths; Udhampur has 4,278 positive cases, 39 active positive, 4,182 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,876 positive cases, three active positive, 3,818 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,437 positive cases, one active positive, 3,372 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,258 positive cases, two active positive, 3,203 recovered, 53 deaths.
"Samba has 2,839 positive cases, seven active positive, 2,792 recovered, 40 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,736 positive cases, three active positive, 2,711 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,520 positive cases, 14 active positive, 2,482 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,135 positive cases, 2,114 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,646 positive cases, 1630 recovered, 16 deaths," reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 26,093 positive cases in J&K, 12,205 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
